The purpose of the eSTÓR website is to enable accessible, secure and reliable sharing of Language Resources (“LRs”) by different stakeholders at both the national and EU level (where applicable).
Dublin City University (“DCU”) is responsible for the collection and processing of personal data (the “Data”) and is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. The eSTÓR website is dedicated to the collection, processing and sharing of the Irish language, LR’s in Ireland. In this data protection policy, we inform you about the processing of your personal data when visiting the website and/or using the services provided by eSTÓR.

What is the purpose of this document?
This privacy notice describes how DCU collects and uses personal information about you throughout your relationship with eSTÓR together with how DCU deal with the information furnished after the relationship terminates, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).
DCU is a “data controller”. This means that DCU is responsible for deciding how it holds and uses personal information about you. DCU is required under GDPR to notify you of the information contained in this privacy notice. This policy may be updated at any time, and if this is carried out, an updated version will be furnished to you as soon as reasonably practicable to do so.
Data protection principles
DCU will comply with data protection law. GDPR says that the personal information DCU holds about you must be:
Used lawfully, fairly and in a transparent way.
Collected only for valid purposes that DCU have clearly explained to you and not used in any way that is incompatible with those purposes.
Relevant to the purposes DCU has told you about and limited only to those purposes.
Accurate and kept up to date.
Kept only as long as necessary for the purposes DCU has told you about.

Within eSTÓR, the Data collected, is only processed for the purpose of registration of users of the website.
DCU will collect, store and use the following categories of personal information about you:
Personal contact details such as name and title.
Position in the organisation and contact details in respect of the position.
How is the Data collected?
The Data is only collected via the registration page on the website.
How will the Data be used?
DCU will only use your personal information when the law allows us to.
We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly we will use your personal data in the following circumstances:
Where we need to comply with a legal obligation.
Where it is necessary for our legitimate interests (or those of a third party) and your interests and fundamental rights do not override those interests.
Generally, we do not rely on consent as a legal basis for processing your personal data.
Situations in which we will use your personal information
We need all the categories of information in the list above primarily to allow us to perform our contract with you and to enable us to comply with legal obligations. In some cases, we may use your personal information to pursue legitimate interests, provided your interests and fundamental rights do not override those interests. The situations in which we will process your personal information are listed below.
To allow us to register you as a User of the eSTÓR Services.
To allow us to contact you in respect of any training or further information regarding the eSTÓR Services.
Change of purpose
eSTÓR will only use your personal data for the purposes for which it collected it, unless eSTÓR reasonably consider that they need to use it for another reason and that reason is compatible with the original purpose. If you wish to get an explanation as to how the processing for the new purpose is compatible with the original purpose, please contact eSTÓR.
If eSTÓR need to use your personal data for an unrelated purpose, they will notify you and will explain the legal basis which allows eSTÓR to do so.
Access data
The legitimate grounds pursued by eSTÓR include, among others, the adaptation and optimisation of the information offering and the investigation, detection and prosecution of illegal activities in connection with the usage of our website.
eSTÓR and services log certain information about every request sent to them. This information is used for system administration and for producing usage statistics. Summary statistics are extracted from this data and some of these may be made publicly available, but these do not include information from which individuals could be identified.
Relevant subsets of this data may be used as part of investigations of computer misuse involving this site. Data may also on occasion be used to enable investigation of technical problems on the website. Otherwise logged information is not passed to any third party except if required by law.
Correspondence
You have the option to contact us by e-mail. We will use your e-mail address and other personal contact data for the correspondence with you. Due to legal obligation every e-mail correspondence will be archived until such a time as you are no longer a User of eSTÓR. Subject to our legitimate grounds your e-mail address and other personal contact data can be stored in our contact database until such a time as you are no longer a User of eSTÓR Services, at which point the information will be removed. In this case you will receive corresponding information on the processing of your contact data.
Data Sharing
Recipients
The Data will not be transmitted to any third parties unless you consent for that data to be transmitted for example, via the ELRC-SHARE website. Within our information offering, DCU does not embed information or service offerings of third-party providers.

You are not under a statutory or contractual duty to provide eSTÓR with any personal data. However, there are some pieces of information, such as your name and address that you must provide to us so that eSTÓR can allow access to the eSTÓR Services. If you do not provide eSTÓR with this information, they may not be able to provide you access to the eSTÓR Services.

Will my data be transferred abroad?
eSTÓR may share your data with third parties, including third-party service providers, including ELRC-SHARE. eSTÓR will only transfer your personal information, i.e., email address, where you have provided your explicit consent to the proposed transfer.
eSTÓR requires third parties to respect the security of your data and to treat it in accordance with the law.
Data security
eSTÓR has put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal information from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. In addition, eSTÓR limit access to your personal information to those agents, contractors and other third parties who need it to assist in granting you access to the eSTÓR Services. eSTÓR personnel will only process your personal information on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.
eSTÓR has put in place procedures to deal with any suspected data security breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a suspected breach where they are legally required to do so.
Data retention
How long will you use my personal information for?
eSTÓR will retain your personal for as long as necessary to grant you access to the eSTÓR Services. After this period, eSTÓR will securely destroy your personal information.
Your legal rights
Under certain circumstances, by law you have the right to:
Request access to your personal information (commonly known as a "data subject access request"). This enables you to receive a copy of the personal information eSTÓR holds about you and to check that they are lawfully processing it.
Request correction of the personal information that eSTÓR holds about you. This enables you to have any incomplete or inaccurate information eSTÓR holds about you corrected.
Request erasure of your personal information. This enables you to ask eSTÓR to delete or remove personal information where there is no good reason for us continuing to process it. You also have the right to ask eSTÓR to delete or remove your personal information where you have exercised your right to object to processing (see below).
Object to processing of your personal information where eSTÓR is relying on a legitimate interest (or those of a third party) and there is something about your particular situation which makes you want to object to processing on this ground. You also have the right to object where eSTÓR is processing your personal information for direct marketing purposes.
Request the restriction of processing of your personal information. This enables you to ask eSTÓR to suspend the processing of personal information about you, for example if you want eSTÓR to establish its accuracy or the reason for processing it.
